JANUARY 25, 2017:
Remember earlier this season when the snow pack was so thin that we had to postpone opening day? Yeah, neither can we, due to the buildup of snowbanks around Taos Ski Valley that have blocked any memories of grass and rocks.
It’s turning out to be a legendary season, especially in the weeks since Christmas. In the past 7 days alone, we’ve been hit with 3 feet of snow, adding up to make our season total 140”. Our steeps are opening and closing as conditions allow; ski patrol is working around the clock to keep terrain open and most importantly, safe.
This most recent snow frenzy has a lot of people excited. “It’s turning into snorkel season up here with all the face shots I’ve been getting,” said one local this morning as he hurried off to board Lift 1. “The powder keeps on coming!”
We are keeping our fingers crossed and our snorkels ready for a great remainder of the season, and we encourage you to do the same. In the meantime, check out these highlights of the season so far.
